So, tonight we're off to see (2355 at the Cameo, incidentally...) Clerks II.
Normally, when encountering something that takes long-ago happy memories and tries to translate them into cold, hard new-millenium box-office cash, Dorothy uses the phrase "Stop raping my childhood, goddammit!", and its a phrase that, while the sentiment may seem compelling, can be in no way whatsoever applied to Clerks 2.
For starters, nobody's bending Kevin Smith's arm here, and he is the original creator afterall. He wants to make movies, that's all. It doesn't matter the quality, he's more than willing. We've all already seen Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, haven't we? We know that when it comes time to get low-down and dirty, he'll stoop to some pretty low depths. And we know he's not going to be stopping anytime soon. It's completely consensual, nobody's raping anybody's childhood.
Basically, my childhood is whoring itself for crack.
